Classic Lemon & Garlic Hummus

Try this easy recipe for a quick and healthy snack! This recipe is vegan, gluten-free, refined sugar-free & nut-free.

Ingredients: 

1.5 cups cooked chickpeas 

1/4 cup water 

1/2 lemon, juiced

3-4 tbsp tahini

1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

2 cloves garlic

1/2 tsp salt

Optional garnish: 

pumpkin seeds, chopped nuts, ground paprika 

 

Instructions: 

  1. Place all ingredients in a food processor and blend until well combined.

  2. Stop occasionally to scrape the sides. Continue to blend until you get a smooth consistency.

  3. If you want it to be more creamy, add 1-2 more tablespoons of tahini.

  4. Garnish and serve.

  5. Store in airtight container for up to one week.

  6. Eat with bread, naan, veges, tortilla chips, etc. Enjoy!

Notes:  

  • If using canned chickpeas, rinse in water because canned chickpeas are high in salt.

  • Variations: you can add roasted beets, roasted bell peppers, etc. to create different flavour variations!

  • You can add different garnishes.
