Frequently asked questions
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural trance-like state of relaxed concentration and heightened awareness. You are remain fully aware and in control. You and I go in and out natural trances everyday (I.e., When you’re daydreaming or when you’re walking/driving and concentrating deeply on something else that when you arrive at your destination you couldn’t remember the actual process or details of the walk or drive!)
Hypnotherapy is the science of shifting your waking consciousness to a level where you’re more relaxed & open-minded, opening opportunities for your unconscious mind to bridge the mind-body connection and help you change anything from your pain, stress, anxiety, sleep, memory, focus, thoughts, negative emotions to breaking habits and more!
There are misconceptions about hypnosis. Stage hypnosis is different from clinical hypnosis. The goal of stage hypnosis is to entertain, put on a show and have a good time! Clinical hypnosis is guided meditation with a goal for change in mind and can help you achieve many health goals. Clients are fully alert, in full control and experience a state of relaxed concentration & heightened awareness. Hypnosis is goal-directed and client-centred.
Is hypnosis the same as meditation?
Hypnosis is guided meditation with a GOAL for change in mind. It is not a diagnosis or treatment of any medical or mental disease. It is not psychotherapy but can complement mental health services. Watch my Webinar to explore more on their similarities and differences!
Am I asleep during hypnosis?
No. You are not asleep. You are in a relaxed state of alertness.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
No. You are in full control of yourself and remain fully alert and aware.
Can I be hypnotized if I don't want to be?
No. If you don’t want to be hypnotized you can’t be.
How can hypnosis help me or my clients?
For your clients, you empower them with self-help strategies to change their behaviours, bad habits, feelings, thoughts or attitudes to work towards their health goals.
For clinicians, you learn to use hypnosis to prevent burnout, compassion fatigue and any health or self-improvement goals you may have.
How many sessions does is usually take to see change?
Depending on the client and the goals, most clients see changes in 4-6 sessions.
